A Miami man tricked many victims from 2020 to 2022 of almost $1 million scheme and claimed to be a licensed stockbroker. He took the victims’ money by investing them in his own funds and cryptocurrency while he lived a lavish life. After the investigation was completed, a judge ordered him to pay almost $1 million to the victims and was sentenced to 66 months in federal prison. In a study conducted by Lioret-Irles et al. (2022), it was found that violence is related to cyber-aggression. Cybervictimization in individuals can affect a community if prevention programs are not being placed as a free resource in our community.
Sometimes, a teacher can notice that a child’s behavior is abnormal, yet he or she may not report it to the parent or someone in higher authority. Moreover, cyber-aggression is linked to low empathy and especial prevention programs focusing on emotional education are important especially with children who have witnessed it. Victims of cyberbullying often have the worse psychological adjustment and neuroticism (Lioret-Irles et al., 2022). In addition, children should learn to be proactive and report any incident such as cyberbullying instead of being a bystander because cyber-victims may encounter a lot of emotional wounds (Lioret-Irles, 2022). There’s also suicidal ideation that is attributed as a long-term effect of exposure to bullying. Mental health problems can have major effects on individuals if no proper preventions are addressed.
